Because, New York Part 1

I have to document my travels as I went to NYC last week for three full days and four nights.  I mean, my dreams came true in a heart beat.  And before I forget any details, I must blog!

The traveler buried inside me was in high heaven.  I went to work on Wednesday, December 10th with my suitcase in my bug's trunk.  I could hardly focus on my tasks but knew I needed to because I would be out of my office on Thursday/Friday.  I don't even think I ate anything because I was dying of excitement!  6:00 PM rolled around and I was out that door like it was going out of style.

LAX was a dead zone which was nice.  Parked Giovanni (my bug for those of you that don't read my blog and have not officially met him, rude) in the C-Lot, which I HATE but it's the cheapest and closest option for long-term parking.  I got to my terminal and found out I couldn't upgrade to a window seat as the plane was overbooked, who over books a flight? Odd.  I was really bummed because not only was this a five hour flight, (I am used to 2 hour jaunts to Seattle people!) it was a red-eye.  Which I have done three times in my life- to Mexico, to Costa Rica, and to Florida.  All were brutal, but I of course still had a blast on those trips.  But it really throws off your whole sleeping groove for the whole trip, or for when you return home and need to sleep for ten hour nights until you're caught up.

Anyway, of course as air travel always is, my flight was delayed 1 hour because the flight before it took forever to leave the gate.  Typical!  I FINALLY boarded, I was excited and had popped TWO benadryl's so I could at least try and sleep, even though I was in a middle seat (UGHHHH).  I love air travel, but I hate it at the same time.  So I got all situated in my dreaded but surprisingly spacious middle seat, I even started a movie! 'Maleficent' that I had been wanting to see since it was out in theatre (for movie buffs...it was good, but not great).  Then I see some people eyeing my aisle, and they are together.  My inside self does a cartwheel! If they are together I can switch to the window or the aisle! And sure enough, they asked me to switch.  Delighted I moved to the aisle, still no wall for me to lean my head on but my own space and I could get up as needed.

Finally, as my ears perked up and the captain announced that it was currently 27 degrees in New York and lightly snowing and we would be landing at JFK around 7AM EST, I put my headphones on and continued my movie.  I would pause it & doze in and out of sleep and then I would continue it.  I finished it in three and a half hours because of my constant pausing and sleeping!  I then watched 'Heaven is For Real' which was so good and literally the moment the plane touched down, the credits rolled.  It couldn't have been more perfect.  My phone updated and suddenly I was on New York time, in New YORK CITY! I was screaming inside.  Get me off this damn plane!!!  JFK was also a dead zone, so Thursdays must be good times to fly?  Anyway, retrieved my luggage and started texting the friends I would be meeting up with that I HAD ARRIVED! And my worried mother who's sub-conscience woke her up at 4:00 AM Seattle time to text me to be certain I had landed safely.  My suitcase rolled around, always a relief as I never check luggage, but hello, I had to because, New York!

I then got to do what I have always wanted to do.  Just go outside and breathe New York air and get into a New York Cab.  That I did, for the next 2 hours!

"What part of LA do you live in?" And Other Important thoughts and questions that go through my head

Oh me. Single as all get out, in the dating world, BIG TIME, not just a toe dipper, nope I am full on doused into the deep end of it.  Yes I am on Tinder, yes I am on Ok Cupid, and yes, I am too cheap to join Match/E-Harmony so I am going with the free ones...which has not proven to be worth it yet but can you complain when you aren't paying for anything....? The things I have stumbled upon, the people I have met, and the amount of drinks I have downed to get through some pretty horrendous dates are quite....interesting.  My last two blog posts can show you a little insight into that. Here are a small amount of things that go through my mind when I am gandering (it's a word even though this tells me it's not- I made it up apparently) at these so called "Dating Bios." How old is he...? Dating sites have filters mostly...unfortunately for Ok Cupid, anyone can message you- but it filters out the age you don't want from your viewing.  So this week for inst...

Rants and Rants and No Raves

Just some things that drive this girl batty- LA DRIVERS- Sometimes I think I need my own reality show (pause for hysterics) but seriously, like just when I am driving in my car.  Can we talk about Los Angeles drivers (literally as I typed that sentence I hear a symphony of car horns on the street below my office window) they are the WORST, although when I was in NYC I feared for my life in the cab, more then once....  BUT LA! I MEAN HOLY CRAP.  I am from Seattle- the traffic there is a fraction of the traffic here, and at the appropriate times- morning, and evening.  Traffic in LA happens at 7AM,  8am, 11am, 1PM, 3PM, 5PM, 6PM, 7PM, 8PM, and etc etc etc etc.  It is one of the main of a small amount of reasons I hate this city, the lack of transportation and how the geography is laid out.  If you live in West LA, and I live in East, you can forget hanging out until Saturdays or Sundays.  When I was on dating apps (SO glad those days are over...

Currently Edition 4

Oh hello!  My last Currently  was in December! My how time has flown!  Already 11 days into April.  OH and FYI, it's been 105 years since Titanic's maiden voyage (NERD ALERT, if you have read my past blogs, you know I am a Titanic fan) and on April 14, it's been 105 years since she sunk.  Since I was 11 I have been remembering this date as if it should be a national day on calendars, to remember. ANYWAY...April 11! So much has happened since December.  Work pace has picked up, I am heading 3 brand new, and time consuming projects that are actually SO MUCH FUN and I am loving them.  But...alas this is not a blog about my job, it's about the going on's in my life! Here goes nothing... Drinking This isn't really as exciting when it's not a festive time of year...but the usualy, coffee from the Keurig in the AM with almond milk.. TONS of H2O throughout the day, I think I spend equal amounts of time at my desk and in the bathroom because I have to go ...
