Last year, at Christmas I gave one of my best friends a magnet quote, which I love, those 'Quotable' ones?... Anyway, I love them all but I was mind blown when I came across the one that I bought for him, not only can it pertain to every single person, but he was going through a really, REALLY rough PASTURE, not patch, as it was bigger then small and a huge deal that took a major toll on his life, and this quote could not have suited him better in his situation & life.
Anyway, here is the quote-
Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you!
-Christine D. Larson
I love this quote and am trying a new kick in 2015- I have noticed that I am much more sarcastic, dry, negative and even a bit on the bitchy side since I have lived in Los Angeles.
I don't know if it is me putting up a small front because I am more alone (not lonely, there is a difference) now then I have ever been, if it's my true personality coming out, (I hope not...) maybe just still adjusting to my new life and trying to figure out how to handle all the curve balls that got thrown at me, (still a form of a front) or what it is, pin pointed. Have I grown a little colder because I am afraid of being hurt by friendships or relationships? The sarcastic dry stint is fine with me as long as I use it in a positive manner. The negative, I have got to get a handle on. I find myself so easily judging people, in a sarcastic manner and serious manner, I don't look at the bigger picture before I jump into something and I can be very short. That's not the Misty I know, I don't get it.
My friend tagged me in this quote last night, for a reason of his own, but little did he know, I needed to see it again. It brings you back to square one, it makes you think and makes you realize how important it is to take life lightly, but also with haste. To hold onto the positives that give you the gumption to talk to someone, to make a leap or to decide yes on something, or to be motivated at your job. To not let others get to you, this is big for me as what others say and do, affects my personal demeanor like no other. I will hold onto words for life. I will remember something you said to me in 2007, that hurt me to the core. Or something you said to me that elated me to the core. It reminds you to find within yourself, the happiness that we all have and know is there, and to use it to the best of our ability and for ourselves in a good way.
It reminds me that each day I have a choice. A choice to wake up happy. a choice to wake up angry. A choice to dwell on something that hurt me yesterday, last week or a year ago, a choice to let it go. A choice to let what someone says affect my whole day, or the 5 seconds it took to read or hear it.
Choice is a BIG word in our world. It is something we deal with no matter what, every single day, choice is incorporated into it whether it be once, or 9000 times in the 24 hours of your 1 day.
-What coffee do I want today?
-What should I wear today?
-Which route to work?
-Do I even get out of bed?
Then progressively, as the day goes on they will get bigger, and smaller and bigger and smaller, like choice of words in an e-mail to a client you despise, the choice of how to tell your co-worker you can't cover for them after all. The choice to not let what you read from a friend you are in a tiff with, effect your entire day, the choice to remain positive no matter how stressed you are.
They will take their toll on you. Choice is BIG. Making a choice is much easier said, then it is done. But taking the leap if it is a tough one, can change every single aspect of your life for the better.
Just some thoughts...if you know me by now, you know I am ADD with writing, jumpy even. So if you have remained on board this long, you are a trooper!
Peace.
