Currently- Edition 1

I think it would be fun to try a new approach to my blogs.  Right now my blogs are just my thoughts, randoms, and have no direction or path, but hey, it's a blog and I don't care who reads it and I post whatever the mood suits.  I do it for a fun hobby and enjoy it.  I thought it would be fun to do a weekly or monthly 'Currently' post and talk about my current favorite things/currently what I am doing/reading/watching, etc.  Categories could be, drinking, eating, listening, wearing, wanting, reading and watching.  So... here, on the date of my 31st birthday, goes nothing!

Currently- Edition 1.

It's fall and finally the trees seem to be SEMI changing here in Los Angeles.  Though we had nice cool (73 degrees) weather and some light rain on the weekend, the forecast says to prep for a 95 degree heat wave. Kill.Me.Now.  Lucky for me I am heading out of town for a wedding trip and leaving Los Angeles in the rear view (or airplane window) mirror.

Here are the 'Currently's' going down right now!

Drinking: Water.  I had about 95 (ok not that many) beers on Sunday where I celebrated my 31st a little early at a brewery, Arts District Brewery, in downtown LA.  It was AMAZING and so fun and several wonderful and lovely friends were there to celebrate with me!  But I figured I better hydrate before a wedding that is bound to have an open bar.  So this week, I have been drinking a lot of H2O.  HOWEVER- tonight I will be going to CATCH restaurant with the BF to celebrate my birthday, and you better believe a fancy beverage will be downed.   Maybe I will write about it in another blog post!

Eating:  Just had an Avocado Burrito from COMPOS, a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that has all the authentic flavor one could hope and wish for.  I will be going on a one mile walk for lunch hour to burn off some calories before the birthday dinner tonight though.

Listening: Well, at work I do a Pandora SHUFFLE of everything from Billie Holiday to 90's pop hits to Halloween songs (because, duh).  But my current new favorite artist is:  Johnny Swim, and the song I fell in love with him for is 'Drunks'. Try it on for size, I bet you'll LOVE IT.

Wearing:  Jeans and a baseball tee with pumpkins on the sleeves from my sweet sister for my birthday.  It's comfy and festive.  Casual day at work today so that is a plus!

Wanting: Right now my BIGGEST want is Anne of Green Gables BOX set that has all three of the movies on DVD.  It is out of stock on Amazon and I don't know where else to buy it. UGH. :(  I will wait and see!

Reading: Ok, I JUST finished 'Behind Closed Doors' and it was SO GOOD if you are into thriller, crazy suspense drama books.  I just bought 'The Woman in Cabin 10' which is the same genre.  I will probably finish it in a week or so, so stay tuned!

Watching: The question is, what AREN'T I watching, with Hulu, HBO, Starz, Showtime, AMC, and Netflix apps all at my finger tips- GEEZ.
I am however a die hard Once Upon a Time Fan, so I am watching the new season that is only three weeks in.  NEW FAVORITE SHOW ALERT: 'THIS IS US'. Tuesday nights on NBC.  It is HEAVEN.  Family, drama, attractive actors and actresses, real life stuff.  I absolutely love it.  Watch it if you haven't!

There we have it. 10\18\16 Currently. Done.

4 Goodbyes...

If you are faint of heart...don't read this blog post. Death for me was a distant thought, I had seen it in movies, I had watched friends lose friends and family members, but up until the last few months, I hadn't personally experienced it, minus my great-grandmother when I was 17, she was 99 and healthy, just died in her sleep of old age and I was not close to her so I really didn't feel all the feels. My experiences started several months ago, some meant a lot to me, some were just weird and some gut wrenching. I was a nanny for several years, before I moved to LA 2.5 years ago, for many different families and usually ended on wonderful notes with each family when I parted ways, however, with on in particular mom, it ended not so sweetly. Her name was Kim, and I was basically hired to be her friend.  She was a surgeon's wife and had two kiddos.  She wanted companionship, someone to talk to and hang out with, she fast became someone I could tell all my stories ...

Iced Coffee & The Human Race

So every morning before work I stop at the Coffee Bean down the way from my office. It's the perfect location. Stick a few quarters in the meter and head on in.  There are your average business looking people, as this is a business district, and then there are those that have been at yoga or exericising, or the real snooty (pardon my judgement) type who are on their phone the whole time while ordering, prepping their coffee and just standing around on their phone, in the way of every one around them, unbeknownced to the fact of course. It's a good thing I have been awake and coherent, and driving for 2.5 hours or I'd get really impatient. I'm finding my patience are much higher and happier anytime before about 3:30pm. Then I get agitated with the littlest things and tolerance level goes way down.  You can tell who the snooty ones are because of their mannerisms and dress. Chins held high, designer obvious clothes and just a demeanor like they're the absolute shi...

Choice.

Last year, at Christmas I gave one of my best friends a magnet quote, which I love, those 'Quotable' ones?...  Anyway, I love them all but I was mind blown when I came across the one that I bought for him, not only can it pertain to every single person, but he was going through a really, REALLY rough PASTURE, not patch, as it was bigger then small and a huge deal that took a major toll on his life, and this quote could not have suited him better in his situation & life.   Anyway, here is the quote- Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.  Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.  Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best.  Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.  Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.  Live in the faith that the whole world is on y...
