Rants and Rants and No Raves

Just some things that drive this girl batty- LA DRIVERS- Sometimes I think I need my own reality show (pause for hysterics) but seriously, like just when I am driving in my car.  Can we talk about Los Angeles drivers (literally as I typed that sentence I hear a symphony of car horns on the street below my office window) they are the WORST, although when I was in NYC I feared for my life in the cab, more then once....  BUT LA! I MEAN HOLY CRAP.  I am from Seattle- the traffic there is a fraction of the traffic here, and at the appropriate times- morning, and evening.  Traffic in LA happens at 7AM,  8am, 11am, 1PM, 3PM, 5PM, 6PM, 7PM, 8PM, and etc etc etc etc.  It is one of the main of a small amount of reasons I hate this city, the lack of transportation and how the geography is laid out.  If you live in West LA, and I live in East, you can forget hanging out until Saturdays or Sundays.  When I was on dating apps (SO glad those days are over...

Twenty Sixteen

A lot has happened in the last 11 months of my life that was very eye opening and crazy...so I have been MIA in posting, sans posts about being in a new relationship! WOOHOO! Not so new anymore as it has been 8 months, holy crap that flew by.  But new year, new out look, new posts....here we go!

Party of....2?

When you are 29 and have been single for as long as this girl, it takes some pep talks (to yourself) to prepare yourself to learn to start thinking for more then one person, that one person being yourself. If you know me personally, you already know that I am a handful.  I am quirky, loud, over-analyzing, full of way too many thoughts, feelings and opinions, have an ever-present resting bitch face, and have only had to think for myself for, well, a really long time. Cue dating- Been out of this game for several years.  Then in the blink of an eye, I suddenly start dating one person, for several weeks, then that one person becomes my boyfriend (say WHAT!?), then all of a sudden I go into thinking- for- two- mode- what's his scheduled, what's mine? Do they clash?  When can we see each other, why does seeing each other have to be scheduled (because we live on opposite ends of LA and have opposing work schedules, ugh), we now share calendars via iPhone (I know... "vomit...

What Happened?

I have always been told it will happen when I least expect it.  What will happen? A guy will fall into my lap?  He will approach and say the word and I will be his?  I will be picking berries and singing in a forest and he will ride in on his noble steed? Nope. My friends you DO actually have to work.  You HAVE to put yourself out there, hell, you  have to DATE a few absolute crazies to weed them out to find someone worthy, someone you would have never expected to fall for, someone who is just the right fit.  You have to join the dreaded online dating accounts and see who is in this world for you.  You have to get excited, frustrated, sad, and even lose sleep over it.  This is life, no one ever said it would be easy.  If it's worth it, it has to be earned and worked for. Like everything in life, put effort, see results.  I put in my fair share of time, since the mere age of 21, when I was cheated on, when my heart was br...

"What part of LA do you live in?" And Other Important thoughts and questions that go through my head

Oh me. Single as all get out, in the dating world, BIG TIME, not just a toe dipper, nope I am full on doused into the deep end of it.  Yes I am on Tinder, yes I am on Ok Cupid, and yes, I am too cheap to join Match/E-Harmony so I am going with the free ones...which has not proven to be worth it yet but can you complain when you aren't paying for anything....? The things I have stumbled upon, the people I have met, and the amount of drinks I have downed to get through some pretty horrendous dates are quite....interesting.  My last two blog posts can show you a little insight into that. Here are a small amount of things that go through my mind when I am gandering (it's a word even though this tells me it's not- I made it up apparently) at these so called "Dating Bios." How old is he...? Dating sites have filters mostly...unfortunately for Ok Cupid, anyone can message you- but it filters out the age you don't want from your viewing.  So this week for inst...

You Just Deal

One of my girlfriends is visiting LA this week. I got to spend some time with her last night. She was saying how she came here solely to see four people.  She lived here a year and a half and four people is all she wanted to see.  She said it in a tone that made me interrupt her... she sounded embarrassed almost that she didn't have 95 million friends to see.  I looked at her with my furrow that I know I was doing, and said, "seriously, as we get older it is about quality, not quantity.  You should be happy that you have kept the four people you care about as friends and gain something from them (me being one of them...;)) enough to want to keep in touch at this point in your life."  She looked at me and told me I was absolutely right. I remember when I first got social media sites, like MySpace and Facebook, all during college and it was all I could do to add as many people as I possibly could.  I wanted to have 100's of people as my 'friend.'  I re...

Fem

I am no feminist, or at least not an activist for feminism, but I just read the most interesting article.  Someone started a tweet chat where they asked men 16 questions of situations that women experience nearly on the daily- down to texting your friend that you got home safely, because this legitimately is something that women have to do.  It was so interesting to me to see how these things are actually ever present in my everyday life. Being a woman- means you DO have to watch your back, you do have to carry pepper spray, or even a small knife with you.  It means walking on streets late at night that there is a chance for something bad to happen. It means that people can blame your emotions on "that time of the month." THIS is a big one for me.  I am allowed to be upset, cry, or express anything I want via tears or with haste if it is upsetting, and NO it doesn't mean it's that time of the month. It means there is a chance that your ideas at work may be look...
