Currently Edition 5

I am the worst.  I tried to be a blogger, tried to be a writer but I just don't have time, energy or enough creative juices going through my brain that are devoted to writing as of the last couple of years.  I don't know what it is, but it's ok! I  have been putting my energy toward making a home, cooking new recipes, life changes, PLANNING A WEDDING, basking in my best friends' wedding planning (I am a grooms-gal!) and enjoying living.  However, I do enjoy these Currently  blog posts because it's fun to look back at what I happened to be into.... so here goes #5! Drinking Well..I am a water FIEND. I'm telling you... I think I log just shy of a gallon every day.  Maybe I reach a gallon at least.  All I know is that my  Swell water bottle  is my pride and joy and goes with me every where.  And I frequent my offices water station so many times a day to a. get steps, b. move away from the computer screen and c. get that H2O in my system...

ENGAGED!

Well...if you hate love stuff go ahead and exit out of here.  But for my own sake, I want to document this moment that I just experienced on May 19th, a moment I think every girl thinks about throughout their lives, boys probably do too. On May 18th, my now fiancé, Alex and I hit the road to head east out of the city, out of the hustle bustle and to a National Park, Joshua Tree.  I had always wanted to go, it's in our back yard after all and it's a NATIONAL PARK which seems like a big deal, no?  ANYWAY...we made a couple of stops on the way there because I used to live in between LA and Palm Springs so I wanted to show Alex my old house, my favorite places to hang out and my old stomping grounds.  We finally got out to the desert and checked into our cute little Air BNB called The Lost Coyote Cabin.  Our evening progressed as it would on any get-away, we got food, we got drinks, we explored and then went home to our cabin where we lit a fire in the ba...

Giving & Thanks

Well....INSPO from one of my favorite bloggers whom I feel like I am friends with even though we have never met personally but we "follow" each other's lives from one big city to the other across the USA and engage with each other--- ALL THAT creepiness being said, her blog is  here .  ANYWAY, the whole point of that paragraph was that I felt, even though I rarely write/blog anymore, I should write a thankful/grateful post! I enjoy a good list so I will be listing these out- First and foremost, I don't care how gross you think I am but I am thankful for Almond Nog, Trader Joes' version of Almond Milk Egg Nog, don't know how it all works, but it's damn delicious and has been in my gingerbread ground coffee also from Trader Joes, every single morning this week!  Yes I am a sucker for seasonal flavors, I am what they call #basic, and I own it. AIR TRAVEL, even though I know LAX will be a complete cluster F tonight I am thankful that once I board...

Currently Edition 4

Oh hello!  My last Currently  was in December! My how time has flown!  Already 11 days into April.  OH and FYI, it's been 105 years since Titanic's maiden voyage (NERD ALERT, if you have read my past blogs, you know I am a Titanic fan) and on April 14, it's been 105 years since she sunk.  Since I was 11 I have been remembering this date as if it should be a national day on calendars, to remember. ANYWAY...April 11! So much has happened since December.  Work pace has picked up, I am heading 3 brand new, and time consuming projects that are actually SO MUCH FUN and I am loving them.  But...alas this is not a blog about my job, it's about the going on's in my life! Here goes nothing... Drinking This isn't really as exciting when it's not a festive time of year...but the usualy, coffee from the Keurig in the AM with almond milk.. TONS of H2O throughout the day, I think I spend equal amounts of time at my desk and in the bathroom because I have to go ...

More Rants, minimal Raves

Some things that have struck me as of late that have driven me to the point of wanting to write about them... here are some  rants and maybe one rave,  that have become part of my life as of late---(thank you to Allison who inspires these blog posts- check out her blog  here ) Articles that point out how unrealistic shows are that you LOVED since YEARS ago i.e.  CLICK HERE  and feast your eyes upon the perfect example.  Sex and The City was a favorite (still is, I repeat it OFTEN) of mine from the age of 16 until now.  And yes, back then my eyes saw a magical city, (NYC), amazing outfits, gorgeous shoes, and fantastic apartments.  Namely the main character, Carrie, worked like once a week, writing for the New York Star, and she lived in Manhattan, took a cab everywhere, and bought $800 shoes nearly every week.  I knew in the way back of my mind it wasn't realistic and I live a pretty realistic and budgeted life, so it's not like it r...

Oh HI.

Oh I'm sorry (to whoever actually reads these) I haven't written in 3 months. T H R E E.  Well, life happens.  It was Christmas and traveling then it was New Years (which I actually just don't really care about the older I get) then it was adjusting to 2017 and embracing a new year, there was also ya know, a new President, boyfriends birthday then it was Valentine's Day (:/) then it was....WHO KNOWS, but in between all of that I have had some JAM PACKED DAYS, oh yeah and my boyfriend and I officially live together now, so there was a lot of moving and packing and donating and selling of belongings.  Oh and I went to Hawaii for a week in there and I wish more then anything that a vacation like that could just be life and I went into a dumb, and silly, and probably normal, depressed & melancholy state the moment we touched down in LA after leaving Maui.  Luckily my boyfriend was next to me on the plane to help me cope, it always helps when you feel like that to hav...

Currently-Edition 3

December is in FULL swing and it is lovely.  I have done so many fun activities that have been so festive and joyful.  There are no bah-humbugs here! I even put up a Christmas tree for the FIRST time this year! So exciting, you have no idea.  I packed up my ornaments from my parents' house in Seattle and shipped em on down! So here we go with Currently-Edition 3. Woohoo! Here it is, nestled in the corner of my sweet, studio apartment!   Drinking Dry January is fast approaching, I will be doing a massive health kick as I am going to Hawaii on January 27th and I need to feel a little more...fit if you will? ;) So currently I am enjoying all beverages.  I try not to drink alcohol during the week but that is difficult given all the holiday festivities including my office party that is tomorrow night & a friend's 30th birthday celebration that is Friday! EEK! So a lot of water and the normal coffee routine during the weeks. Eating Healthy! TRYING! ...

Currently- Edition 2

Currently-Edition 2 Two weeks later, I have been 31 for 14 days, I have had the WORST cold for almost 1 week, I went to North Carolina and back and it is NOVEMBER 1st!!! WOOHOO! You know what this means...Fall is in FULL SWING (officially we 'fall back' in a few days), time to break out the boots, scarves, coats, flannels.  Put away the Halloween decor and break out the in-between Halloween and Christmas decor (which for me is one in the same...I put out "winter" decor, I'll do my tree a little later on.  And drinking hot drinks, and quite possibly attempting to add a Christmas playlist into your Pandora shuffle just for a light preview.  So now, day 1 of November, here are the 'currently's' happening! Drinking My body is begging me to drink water, water and more water.  But on the first day of November, I splurged on a fancy (free thanks to earned rewards!) Starbucks drink, it was my go-to in college, Grande Soy White Chocolate Peppermint M...

your Passion(s)

What's your passion? Movies? Music? Reading? Writing? Running? Etc? One thing I know about me, I don't have just one, in fact I get really ADD, as in, I'll start a book, then forget about it and finish it months later (disclaimer: UNLESS it's a James Patterson thriller).  I will binge a series on Netflix then not watch TV for days, I'll re-watch the same movies because it's easier then attempting a new one....and the list goes on. One other thing I know about me: since the day I saw Titanic, I knew I would never be the same.  Don't laugh.  The movie itself unleashed an obsession, infatuation, and love for not just Leonardo DiCaprio, but more seriously, ships. Sunken ships mostly, but also boats, cruise ships, oil rigs, sail boats--- you name it, if it floated, or sunk, I wanted to know about it. Before I knew it I lived, breathed, and dreamt of sunken ships.  Of seeing one in person, of the books I had bought at Barnes and Noble, and second hand book...

Currently- Edition 1

I think it would be fun to try a new approach to my blogs.  Right now my blogs are just my thoughts, randoms, and have no direction or path, but hey, it's a blog and I don't care who reads it and I post whatever the mood suits.  I do it for a fun hobby and enjoy it.  I thought it would be fun to do a weekly or monthly 'Currently' post and talk about my current favorite things/currently what I am doing/reading/watching, etc.  Categories could be, drinking, eating, listening, wearing, wanting, reading and watching.  So... here, on the date of my 31st birthday, goes nothing! Currently- Edition 1. It's fall and finally the trees seem to be SEMI changing here in Los Angeles.  Though we had nice cool (73 degrees) weather and some light rain on the weekend, the forecast says to prep for a 95 degree heat wave. Kill.Me.Now.  Lucky for me I am heading out of town for a wedding trip and leaving Los Angeles in the rear view (or airplane window) mirror. Here ...

Current Rants.

Don't have a lot to complain about often, but sometimes you just never know when something is going to creep up on you and make you go CRAZY and nearly explode and then lead to fifty thousand other things rubbing you all the wrong way and driving you absolutely BATTY.  Sometimes I feel just like I imagine my teapot feeling when it's been on the stove WHISTLING at me for far too long and soon it may explode if I don't do something about it. COMMUNICATION---- I am a girl of many words. But lately I am finding the communication with others around me is just non-existent, whether it be at my job, appointments I make, friends, friends' relationships, my boyfriend (love him but...remembering things I tell him or forgetting to tell me about important things- not his strong suit) or anywhere in between it just MAKES ME CRAZY. PHONES IN MOVIES---- TWO movies I went to last weekend (Beauty and the Beast special screening of the animated Disney classic & Bridget Jones...

Conundrum.

So here we are....September. SEPTEMBER, I'm sorry, when did that happen?  September is always a great month for me.  Summer is finally winding down (kind of...in LA it's 90 well into October---I HATE IT), kids are back in school, business at work picks back up (it's always slow in the cosmetic world in the summer), and it is almost my day of BIRTH, then Halloween! Then Thanksgiving, and Christmas! This is my favorite time of year, I cherish all FOUR, yes four, of these holidays but I always am shocked when September hits because I wonder what in the world I did for the past year. It flies. It flew. Before you know it it'll be 2017.  I will be turning 31 in October. Not too worried about it, not having any end of life epiphanies or agonizing thoughts that I am getting old.  Lucky for me I work in the cosmetic world, preventing the site of age is easily attainable for me. But my inside and my mind, that's all up to me.  I don't think of my birthday as that big o...

ESFJ

So this weekend was a lot of news for me.  Hung with new people, saw new places, hell I even ate new kinds of foods that I don't generally eat, but I loved it.  I loved the new, I loved the people, and it was a great distraction from the conundrums of life, whether it be a disagreement with a  friend that is a constant cloud cover to stresses of every day life, to job stress, to LIFE, it was nice to "get away" from it all.  Something else I did though was take a Myers Briggs personality test- something I have not done since I was in college which I think is something every one SHOULD take in college, and then again once they have had some life experience for example, turning 30. In short ESFJ is Extrovert, and my score for that was 60%, Sensing, 75%, Feeling, 85% and Judging was 70%.  In long I am a people person, I have a strong desire to be liked, I am dependable, I have a strong focus on the details of life, I need approval from others to feel good about my...

Why(s)

Why.... Things that run through my head on the daily because, life.  Why do we let ourselves as humans get caught up in silly, mundane, stressful, and hurtful situations? Here are some of my whys... Do I watch "just one more" episode on Netflix when I know I will want to kill myself in the morning? Does your opinion matter so much? Do I second guess myself? Do I HATE working out but afterward feel so good, then quickly forget that feeling because the next day, I HATE working out again? Do I continuously put up with people in my life who exhaust me, make me second guess myself and my decisions? Do I procrastinate with all major decisions but 'fun' decisions I take two seconds to make? Do I care so much? Do I sometimes feel that it's not enough? Can't I stop, breathe, and realize I have it pretty damn good? Do I dwell on things that only hurt me in remembering them? Can't I just realize that I AM THE ONLY ONE that can make me ha...

First (of many) Vacation

So... you get to that point in your relationship where you decide it would be fun to take a trip.  My boyfriend and I had already done quick overnight stays at places and hotels but they were for family functions, not r & r.  So I was excited when he suggested we do something the first weekend he was back from a 3 month work trip. I let him do all the planning of where and what, but I of course took over the planning of the to-go places at our destination, because that's who I am and that's how we work.  Some things I learned, and things we did that made it an amazing and perfect trip-- Found a blog that had 100 questions to ask your significant other on a road trip---cheesy? Maybe. Amazing time passer? Absolutely.  We talk all the time and know a lot about each other, but the questions this particular blog asked were really fun and not only made us come up with answers but the answers led to childhood memories to share with each other, dreams, insi...

Missing Person(s)

Have you ever gone on a date, or even just exchanged phone numbers, texts or see each other, hit it off, flirt, etc, and then POOF, the guy just DISAPPEARS....!?  I think we all have, unfortunately.   If you are in the dating world it will happen eventually if it hasn't already.  Sorry! Where do they go?  I have a theory that they must have died.  Or they have a retreat they all gather at, sit around and drink some beers and watch sports and have a good laugh about all the girls they have left hanging. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are plenty of girls who have done this before as well, but MOSTLY it's guys, as I know from personal experience, every dating movie, TV show (hello SATC), and girlfriend I have.  Who tells them they have a right to do this?  A secret bad dating angel who whispers it into their ear when they enter the world from the womb?  Is there a book they read and not tell us about?  WHY!?  What gives them the ri...

Things I've Learned...

I was on a walk this evening in a cold, crisp 58 degree LA night and I was thinking (something I do often), I have almost been in one, solid relationship for a year.  It's coming up fast and it's very crazy how time flies! I was thinking of all the things I have learned so far and realize some things that have been produced from being in a healthy, happy relationship and decided to put them in a blog post... You may not fall for who you expected to fall for, but when you fall, they will become exactly what you were looking for and the so called "expectations" will suddenly be a thing of the past. You will feel like the reacher.  You will feel so lucky to have this person in your life that you feel like they are settling for you.  While this may sound negative I mean it in the most positive way. Having DIFFERENCES is very important.  My boyfriend is a HUGE, and let me emphasize on HUGE movie/tv/book buff.  So he has a lot to say and tell me and show me. ...

relationship(s)

I had happy hour with a very good friend on Friday who always helps me assure myself; sometimes it's needed to hear what you know is true from an outsider.  He's very smart, assertive and essentially knows what he is talking about as he is wise beyond his years.  Anyway both of us were single a little over a year ago and have now been in successful relationships- him over a year now and me coming up on it in a few months.  It's weird to think that a year ago we spent Valentine's Eve together because he was newly dating and I had no one so we did a little pre-celebration together.  The year before that we were each other's Valentine's and spent a night out in We-Ho and had a blast, this year we both have serious people to spend it with.  It's amazing how time changes everything. We were discussing our relationships with our guys, with each other.  Currently mine is long-distance until April, pause for tears, no no, I am fine.  And his is about to go f...

4 Goodbyes...

If you are faint of heart...don't read this blog post. Death for me was a distant thought, I had seen it in movies, I had watched friends lose friends and family members, but up until the last few months, I hadn't personally experienced it, minus my great-grandmother when I was 17, she was 99 and healthy, just died in her sleep of old age and I was not close to her so I really didn't feel all the feels. My experiences started several months ago, some meant a lot to me, some were just weird and some gut wrenching. I was a nanny for several years, before I moved to LA 2.5 years ago, for many different families and usually ended on wonderful notes with each family when I parted ways, however, with on in particular mom, it ended not so sweetly. Her name was Kim, and I was basically hired to be her friend.  She was a surgeon's wife and had two kiddos.  She wanted companionship, someone to talk to and hang out with, she fast became someone I could tell all my stories ...

Bandwagon(s)

In 1855 the term bandwagon was created and first used-originally it was a large, ornate wagon that carried musicians that were part of a band usually in circuses. I'm not sure when the term expanded to what we use it for now, but anyway, this is a term I use ALL THE TIME.  There are bandwagon fans, which if you think about it, everyone is one at one point in their lives; the loyalties start by jumping on a bandwagon with other fans, whether that be following in your families foot steps or deciding on the team on your own, it all starts by hopping on board.  There are also bandwagon trends-copying the latest fashion or hobby all falls under the category. I lately and FINALLY might I add, got back on the exercise/health/fitness bandwagon.  I fell off back in June-ish and I have had a hard time finding it and getting back on until last Monday.  I guess you could say I had an epiphany (another word I love to overuse) when I found photos of me from not even that long ...
